How Long Will it Take to Make a Living with Residual Income?

Ah, the question that I get asked by many people when I tell them that I am working on building myself residual income. The answer is not one that is simple or should be taken lightly. As you travel through the Internet, you will be bombarded by people telling you that if you invest in their Ebook or training class that you can be earning a living from residual income in as little as 6 months. I wish it were that easy. Well to be truthful, there may be someone out there in the world who managed to make a living with residual income. Weirder things have happened and I learned along time ago never to say never.

Empty Promises

Many of the people who talk about residual income offer up many empty promises to people who are just starting to look into the industry. They will show screenshots of their pay pal accounts to prove the type of money that they make in residual income to back up their promises. First let me tell you, screen shots can be faked. Think about how easy it is for a picture to get air brushed in a magazine. It is just as easy to fake residual income numbers. The other thing that these marketers do not tell you is how much money they are spending each month to promote their campaigns. This is all information that is often hidden by smoke and mirrors when people are talking about residual income.

The other thing that most people in the residual income field often omit is how long it really took them to work up to the money that they are earning each month. A person may be earning 2k a month but how many years have they been at their campaigns? The truth is that it can take years to build up to earning a good living with residual income.

Do You Have the Time

As you look into residual income, it is easy to start to wonder if you have the time to wait to make a living from your residual income ventures. My question to you is how could you not have the time? Yes, you need to make some money today to pay the bills. For that you can depend on your full time job or even freelance writing clients. However, if you truly want to succeed at becoming the person and living the life that you want, how can you not invest the time now to build your residual income? My thought is that no matter how long it takes me to build up to the levels of residual income that I want, the time that I invest in it will be well worth it.

You can look at building residual income as if you were going to school to get a degree to get a higher paying job. The end result of all of the time and effort you need to put into getting your degree is worth it. The investment of time and work with regards to building to making a living with residual income is well worth it too. If you want to get ahead in life then you are going to need to do the work to get there.

Info Barrel Update

I have been writing on Info Barrel for a while now and have been very happy with the site as a place to make money online by building up more residual income. Now, I will be the first to admit that I have not dedicated as much time to the site that I had originally planned. I remember posting a couple months ago that I was on a goal to post 100 articles on Info Barrel to build my residual income to a steady level. Well 100 articles is still my goal but I have yet to get too near to it. I have 42 articles posted on the writing site at this moment.

Making Time

My plan is to make sure that I make time each week to post articles to Info Barrel. I am not being ambitious enough to say that I will have all 100 articles posted to make residual income. The key to making money online is to make the commitment to work on it everyday. It is very easy to sit down in front of the TV in the evening and just "relax". Doing this will not make money online. You have to make the commitment to work a set amount of time on your residual income.

Being Creative

The kick in the butt that most freelance writers need to make this type of residual income thing a reality is a creative burst. One of the tricks that I have been using to tap into this creative thing is that I keep a notebook in my purse to write down ideas for articles. This gives me a lot of ammo when I finally get to sit down at my computer. The worse thing is to give yourself the time to make money online with your streams of residual income and find that you have nothing to write about. It is when you are pushing yourself the most to work to make money online that your mind will push back and be empty.

Building Multiple Blogs

Today I am working on a venture to build another avenue of residual income for myself. This can be one of the harder ways to make residual income each month. Well, of course this depends on who you are talking to about it. I am working on building a collection of blogs that I can monetize and use to earn more money each month. Blogging for money takes time and effort. Oh and did I forget to mention patience. That is one of those places I can be short on.

Multiple Blogs, Multiple Topics

I am working on choosing a few topics that I am knowledgeable about and building the site and some content. I already have a couple of blogs that I have started in the past. I have started to see some residual income from them and realize that I can replicate this success with a few more blogs. All I have to do is find good topics and get to work.

Getting to Work

As always, finding the time to work this extra residual work into my already busy day is hard. I know that I need to block out time to post to the blogs and also work on the article marketing campaign for them. The way I have chosen to do this is to give myself a posting schedule for each day. I will also pre-write posts for my blogs when I have free time. My weekends will be used for the article marketing of the blogs. I feel that this schedule will help me to build this stream of residual income as well as work on my other goals and writing projects.

Residual Eggs....

What do you do when the site that you write for is down? You write for the other residual income sites to make money online. This is another reason that you need to have many eggs in your residual income basket. I am working today to escape the stress that is my personal life. However, my plan is not working exactly as I planned it.

The site that I wanted to add content to to build my residual income, Ehow, is giving me problems with publishing. I have read on the forums that this problem has been popping up from time to time with the site. Am I letting this stop my plan to build more residual income? No way! I am looking to the other sites that I needed to add content to, like Associated Content, Info Barrel, and Xomba to continue to build my residual income.

I bet you never thought about adding more sites to your residual income basket. There are only so many hours that you can commit to building residual income. If one site is down, you need to have other options with which to get the work done that you have planned on.

What Has Residual Income Done for You?

I just wrote on my freelance writing blog about my decision over the past couple of months to take time off of writing to make money online. I touched on the way that residual income helped me out over those months. What I didn't go into was exactly how it helped.

I have about 400 articles on Associated Content and a little more then that on Ehow. The first thing that I will admit to all of you is that most of those articles were written before I knew much about making money online or building residual income. That being said, I still make money from those banks of articles each day.

I am making about $30 a month in residual income from associated content and almost $200 a month from Ehow. I had to do no work the last 5 months on these articles and still got the residual income payment into my paypal account each month. This is what residual income is all about.

I also have made about $40 so far from Info Barrel. I have very few articles on this site, but am looking to add to them as I kick start my freelance writing career again.

Is Info Barrel as Lucrative as Ehow?

Many people who have built and are working on build residual income for themselves have found the Ehow is one of the power house ways to build residual income. There are people who make over $1000 a month on Ehow alone. This is amazing numbers for anyone that is looking to make residual income for themselves. However, one of the most important things that anyone who build residual income will tell you is to not put all of your eggs in one basket. That is why we all look to other sites to see how well we can build even more residual income. One such site is Info Barrel.

I have been writing for Info Barrel for a while now and I am very happy with the returns that I have already seen with this site. I have about 31 articles posted on Info Barrel as of today. This is not as many as I had wanted when it comes to building residual income here, but other projects have gotten in the way. This is why I am going to begin to refocus on this site.

There is a theory over at Ehow, that to see good residual income on an ongoing basis there that you need at least 100 articles posted. I did see that when I hit the 100 article mark on there that my residual income started to become more predictable. So I started to wonder… Would this logic hold true for Info Barrel as well?

It is for this reason that I embarking on the 100 article challenge on Info Barrel. I am going to make sure that these articles are written to maximize the potential with regards to adsense. Have you written for Info Barrel? What types of returns are you seeing on your articles?

The Roller Coaster of Making Money with Adsense

One of the streams of residual income that I have been working on is building up my adsense income. This is the income that you get from the ads that google places on articles and web sites. Making money with adsense is trying to get appropriate ads along your content and trying to get people to click on them without actually telling them to do so. Well, in a nut shell that is making money with adsense.

I have been working on building my adsense revenue with a couple of revenue share sites that pay through adsense and building up some blogs. This is labor of love for the most part right now. I am seeing the potential on many aspects of these ways of making money with adsense. However, that is not what this post is about.

This is my annoyance with the roller coaster that seems to be ads and Internet traffic. The traffic is probably from the nicer weather drawing people outside and away from their computers. The ad problem has popped up on a couple of sites that I have been using lately.

When you are making money with adsense, you need to realize that it is not guaranteed money each month. There will always be glitches in the system or less Internet traffic for some strange reason or another to keep your earnings from being what you think they should be.

Does this mean that you should not build this stream of residual income? No! Making money with adsense is one of the best overall models for making residual income. You can see the profit of the things that you do easily through telling if someone clicked on an ad. You just need to have other income as well to cushion if adsense has a weak month.

Springtime and Nurturing Your Residual Income

If you are like most people, the spring weather brings about a desire to enjoy the great outdoors and not spend time in front of the computer working on ways to build residual income. Ok, maybe not here in the Philadelphia area yet. There were 2 inches of snow on the ground when I left the house this morning. However, I know that it is coming and have decided to fight the Spring fever bug before it hits my drive to build residual income.

Spring time and your residual income should go hand in hand. Planting the seeds and watching your garden grow over time is just like the ways that you build residual income. You will need to spend some time working your residual garden to see the out put at the end of the “season” that you desire. Do you have an action plan on how you are going to build residual income this Spring? Are you still using the same plan that you had at the beginning of the year? Now is the time to look at you plan and do some Spring cleaning to make it work better for you.

The most important thing to remember when you are making an action plan to build residual income is to make sure that it will work for you. My action plan to build residual income is an always evolving one. I try to look at it every month to reevaluate whether it is working for me. This does not mean that I change the residual income streams that I am building. I change how much time and effort that I devote to building each one.

A great example of this is my residual income with Ehow. I have spent the last few months really working on building my article directory to maximize the money that I can make. At the beginning of March, I decided to slow down on Ehow and focus more of my attention to blogging and building some new blogs. I still worked on Ehow but on a much smaller scale.

So here it is my action plan to build residual income this spring:

1. Dedicate at least an hour every night before bed to writing articles for Ehow.
2 Focus each day of the week of using my evening writing time (besides my hour before bed) on each of my residual income streams. I write Monday through Friday night most weeks as my set schedule to begin with.
3. Allow myself 2 Spring fever days a month. These are days that I will use kind of like personal days at a brick and mortar job to enjoy my spring time and not feel like I am neglecting my residual income.

Residual Income with Info Barrel

I have been working on building residual income with Info Barrel for a little over a month now. I have found that this site is quite lucrative with their 75% share of adsense revenue. I have about 30 articles on the site and am just beginning to build some links to my articles.

I like the way that traffic is finding me through Info Barrel and see this a great potential for new residual income. I have also begun to use my articles on Info Barrel to build links back to my blogs. This is kind of a two for one when it comes to building residual income.

One of the most exciting things with Info Barrel is that once you have been writing on the site for a while, you can become pre-approved as a writer. This means that any time that you submit an article or an edit, it will automatically get published. Now the wait time before I became pre-approved at Info Barrel was not that long. My articles were usually up within 24 hours of submitting them.

Making a Full Time Living With Residual Income

This is the dream that I have. To one day be able to make a full time living off my residual income. There are many people online that have successfully done this. Most of these successful residual income people have used multiple streams to make their dreams of living this way a reality. That is why, I find myself wanting to diversify even more with the ways that I build residual income online.

My first and most lucrative ways of building residual income so far has been for revenue sharing sites. I have been writing for a couple of sites that share revenue for more then 6 months now. These sites are the bulk of my residual income earnings. I have since added a couple of more revenue sharing sites to my residual income streams in the past two months. I find that these are the easiest ways for me to make residual income. The catch is that I do not want to stop there.

I have been working on building my blog network to increase my residual income that I earn from. I have been blogging for a while now, but until recently I did not look at it as a way to build more residual income for myself. Shame on me for not seeing what was right in front of me. There is a great opportunity to make residual income with blogging. It is all about finding the right way to do it. This is something that I am slowly trying to learn as I go.

I want to get into the market of ebooks. I have read many great things about writing your own ebook and earning residual income off of it. I have many ideas floating around in my mind for topics of ebooks that I could use to build residual income. I just have to schedule time to sit down and write them.

I have done a little affiliate marketing, but not nearly as much as I could. With my writing background, I believe this is also an untapped market for my residual income. So far I have been an affiliate for some ebooks that I own and found very useful. This has earned me some nice residual income, but I know that there is more to be had if I just take the time to work with the system.

There are so many ways to build residual income, that it is easy to feel overwhelmed when you first begin. The best way to get started is to find a couple of ways that you are comfortable with and just get to work.

The Waiting Game of Residual Income

Residual income is not a way to get rich quick. It can take months and even years to build up your residual income to the levels that it can be your entire income. Many people do not have the patience to play the waiting game when it comes to residual income. They plan to get started and work at building residual income for a couple of months and then walk away because they believe there is no money to be made. I pity these poor misguided people when it comes to residual income.

This is most commonly found on residual income sites that are revenue sharing based like Ehow and Info Barrel. You can go onto the Ehow forum on any given day and see a post or two from new writers who heard that it was a good idea to build residual income on the site. The post usually goes something like this: I have been on Ehow for about two weeks and I have 8 articles published. Why have I not seen any earnings? I am starting to believe that making money here is not possible. Ah, the poor misguided people. I always have to shake my head after I read this type of post. If only they knew that with a little hard work and playing the waiting game that they could build those 8 articles into some real residual income.

I will admit it. I have not always been a patient person. Actually if you ask my boyfriend, I am one of the most impatient people on the planet. You may be asking yourself, how I can be patient and build residual income. The answer is that I have seen the earning potential of the many ways that I have started to build my income. I knew that to make real money that I would have to wait out the slow starting period at the beginning.

My first month on Ehow, I earned 20 cents. The second month that I was writing articles on Ehow, I made 96 cents. For many first time people to residual income, this would have made them walk away thinking this was all a scam. I am thankful that I did not do this. I decided instead to better my writing for the type of place that I was publishing. I learned from writers that were making the type of residual income that I only dreamed about. My earnings quickly went up. I earned $24.28 my next month and never looked back.

This is why it is easier for me to play the waiting game with the new residual income streams that I am working on. I know that by learning the best way to optimize my potential to earn money everyday, the shorter the time frame that I will have to wait for results.

The message to all of you is not to get discouraged if you do not see results over night with the ways that you have chosen to build residual income. Think of residual income like growing a garden. I have worked many long hours to bring home enough money to pay bills each month for years. Doing this has caused me to miss out on a lot of things. Time with friends and family and the ability to really enjoy life. When I heard about residual income and the fact that it could help me to live the type of life that I always dreamed about, I decided that I needed to lean more.

I have never been afraid of hard work. That is why I decided that I was a perfect candidate to build residual income. I had no worries about working hard now to continue to earn from my multiple streams of residual income for years to come. This is why I have started this journey.

I am still learning everyday and expanding on my path to building my residual income into my full time income. I have long been a fan of many different writers and Internet entrepreneurs who have done what I am setting out to do.

I have a few streams of residual income that I have been building on. They are starting to be a good amount of my writing income each month. As I continue on my road to build residual income into full time income. I will share with you what I learn. My mistakes and my lessons learned will be yours to share.
